THE GREAT INDIAN DATA VOMITING REVOLUTION
The Author has been following with fascination as to how Internet as a paradigm has grown from a small phenomenon to a life changing paradigm. The coming of Covid-19 has further re-emphasized the need of tremendous focus on the Internet as a central lifeline of our day-to-day lives.
However, this increased adoption of and reliance upon the Internet also means that we are continuing to mature as data entities. Almost all of us have become data entities as we are already producing data on a 24/7 basis.
Apart from making us data entities, Internet has also made the remarkable contribution towards transforming almost all of us into global authors, global transmitters and global broadcasters of data. But this sudden and new change in our capacities as data entities has meant that suddenly, there has been a huge exposure of data.
That is why the Author see a new phenomenon emerging today, where people are vomiting data. But in the Indian context, the said data vomiting phenomenon has got more pronounced. Lot of Indians have come on to the digital bandwagon without appropriate orientation and sensitization. As a result, Indians continue to vomit data at various places on the Internet.
That is the reason for this entire new paradigm, I have coined a new name called “The Great Indian Data Vomiting Revolution”. This book seeks to identify various aspects, nuances and issues thrown up by The Great Indian Data Vomiting Revolution and also the practical challenges and problems that we are beginning to face in this regard.
Mere vomiting of data is one issue. However, that vomit of data later becomes an ammunition in the hands of state and non-state actors for the purposes of targeting the data entities. Hence, data vomiting as a paradigm brings across completely new legal nuances and aspects. Hence, the author has written the present book “The Great Indian Data Vomiting Revolution”.
In this book, the author has sought to identify the various legal, policy and regulatory issues and nuances pertaining to data vomiting in the Indian context, the practical nuances that are beginning to arise and the immense challenges that are going to be thrown up by The Great Indian Data Vomiting Revolution.
Holistic approaches will have to be adopted to deal with the entire issue of data vomiting in the Indian context. Law and legalities will have to be appropriately evolved in this context. But apart from that, capacity building will also have to play a very important role in the direction of trying to sensitize the people about the ill-effects of data vomiting.
As people will grow and mature, they will stop vomiting data, they will only start sharing data on a need-to-know basis. But till such time, as they are continuing to vomit data on the Internet paradigm, they need to be sensitized about various legal, policy and regulatory nuances, issues and challenges concerning data vomiting.
This book aims to identify some of the important legalities and legal nuances impacting data vomiting in the Indian context and also highlight key approaches that need to be adopted by different stakeholders in order to minimize the legal impact and damage caused by data vomiting in the Indian context.
