Fake news in India has been responsible for generation of frictions and conflicts, sometimes even leading to communal riots and violence. At other times, fake news has been eroding the confidence of the people in the efficacy of the existing societal and legal instruments to regulate the same.
Fake news has also begun to start having impact in India, as far as elections are concerned. However, the fact remains is that India is still not prepared in terms of coming up with holistic cyber legal approaches to deal with fake news.
